Outcome: Proved

Penalty: Jockey, Mathew Cropp suspended for 4 days.

EVIDENCE:

Following the running of Race 4, Mr Cropp admitted a charge of careless riding in that he permitted his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of QUEEN SARABI, which was checked passing the 50m.

Mr Jones with the assistance of Mr Dooley demonstrated on the videos that the Respondent was racing mid- track approaching the 50m mark and allowed his horse to drift outwards into the line of QUEEN SARABI (Sam Weatherley), which was hampered.

DECISION:

As Mr Cropp admitted the breach it is found to be proved.

SUBMISSIONS FOR PENALTY:

Mr Jones produced the Respondent’s record which is clear for the last 12 months and in this period has had 53 rides. Mr Jones stated the Stewards believed this was a low-end breach and the only aggravating factor was that QUEEN SARABI may have finished a place closer.

REASONS FOR PENALTY:

The breach is low range and a 5-day starting point as per the Penalty Guidelines is taken. Mr Cropp’s record and admittance justifies a 1-day discount and the Adjudicative Committee finds a 4-day suspension is appropriate in this case.

Mr Cropp asked to begin any proposed suspension immediately.

CONCLUSION:

Mr Cropp’s Licence to ride in races is suspended from the end of riding today up to and including racing on 24 December 2022.
